What wonderful news it was to wake up on Tuesday morning and read the following e-mail:
Dear Jesse and Melanie,
your Dossier arrived at "*****" today. During the next few weeks we will have your documents authenticated in Washington D.C. and ensure that your Dossier is ready to be sent to "****". Once complete we will send your family an e-mail with the DHL tracking number so you can follow your Dossier to "****".
We have also attached a document titled " The "*****'ian" adoption process from Dossier Submission to Court Date". the time lines in that document should be used as guidelines, please note that each adoption process is special and unique, just like every child.
Once your Dossier has been sent we will contact you to schedule your next raining session "Preparing for referral and Travel" (yeah!)
If you have additional questions please let us know.
That's our status of today. We haven't heard back yet whether all the documents where OK or not, but usually if you don't hear anything that is a good sign.
We're still holding our breath about a possible grant we may be getting from a private foundation out of Kansas. the agency contacted me twice for further information about us and our current adoption status. It would be such a tremendous financial help if they would decide to bless us with such grant. Please keep us in prayer for that.
On another not so good note, corruption has also started in our adoption country of choice. We started to see similarities like in Vietnam when corruption, child trafficking, child selling, forged papers and who knows what else closed that country for adoption. I hope and pray our country of choice will get a handle on that issue fast and that they will continue with the adoption process. there are so many children in need there. Here an excerpt from the state department about the current situation in that country:
Adoption of Abandoned children halted by "****'ian" Court,
.has temporarily stopped accepting cases for abandoned children from orphanages in " ***** ***", , citing concern over a recent increase of the number of abandoned children being brought for adoption. the numbers of abandoned children from orphanages in "**** *****" have grown dramatically in recent months and the authority of "*****" has become aware of possible cases of unethical practises associated with some of them.
that's so sad!
We decided to keep proceeding with our adoption and hope and pray the country will get a handle on their problem.
