Got a call from our agency this evening. My heart about stopped. The agency only calls when you have a scheduled conference call with them, your referral and "disasters". This evening we got a call from "out of area", I picked up and it's our agency. My heart stopped for about 2 minutes. I thought something seriously was wrong with Yochana.
Well, came to find out that USCIS wrote an e-mail to our agency this morning that our fingerprints have expired. Fingerprints are a vital and important document in order for us to bring Yochana home and get trough immigration. According to USCIS one's fingerprints are good for 15 months ( yeah, your fingers change every 15 months, right, lol??). Since we have been in this adoption for almost 20 months and USCIS got to messing with us for the first 11 months at the beginning of this adoption, we expired.
Just 2 weeks ago I was going through our adoption paperwork to make sure we're up-to-date on everything and we were. Our 171 stated our fingerprints were good until later on this year (which i was surprised about), so i didn't bother much about it - you trust the government, right?
USCIS had a typo. Our fingerprints expired Dec 2009. Now what? Tomorrow we need to get in touch with our USCIS office (5 hours away) to get our issue worked out. Have I mentioned we now have 19 days - only 11 of those days business days.
Well, we do what we can, the rest is in GODS hands. Worst case scenario we will have to reschedule our flight, cancel our hotel, await a new Embassy appointment in Addis Abeba...(bawl)...
Keep us in prayers about this, ugh.
Frustrating, so so frustrating.....

She's your daughter and you will be with her soon (remember it's not "our" plan). USCIS will work it out. Did you get a contact name? We did and she was very helpful. If you have a name, start there. Praying for you!
